This Privacy Policy explains how Velchur ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Velchur customer app, the Velchur for Business owner app, or our website.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account information

• Phone number — used to sign in via a one-time password (OTP), and as your primary account identifier.
• Name, and optionally email address, gender, age, and address — provided by you when you set up your profile.

1.2 Location information

With your permission, we use your device's location (or an address you enter manually) to show nearby salons and estimate distance and travel time. You can decline location access and enter a location manually instead.

1.3 Booking and usage information

• Bookings you make, including salon, service, stylist, date/time, and status.
• Reviews and ratings you submit.
• Wallet credit and loyalty point balances and transaction history (earned from referrals, cashback, promotions, and redemptions).

1.4 Salon owner information

If you use Velchur for Business, we additionally collect business details (salon name, address, services, pricing, staff and stylist records), and PIN-based front-desk access records for staff who use shared devices.

1.5 Payment information

We do not store your card, UPI, or bank account details on our servers. Payment collection is handled by our payment processing partners. A UPI ID you enter for your own reference is stored only on your device.

1.6 Technical information

We automatically collect limited technical data such as app version, device type, and general usage events (e.g. screens viewed, features used) to help us understand how the app is used and to fix problems.

2. How we use your information

• To create and secure your account, and verify your identity via OTP.
• To let you discover salons, make bookings, and communicate with salons about your appointments.
• To process wallet credits, loyalty points, referrals, and promotional offers.
• To send booking confirmations, reminders, and account-related notifications via SMS, WhatsApp, or push notification.
• To improve the app, fix bugs, and understand usage patterns.
• To prevent fraud and misuse of the platform.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

• With the salon you book with — your name, phone number, and booking details, so they can serve your appointment.
• With service providers who help us operate the app, such as SMS/WhatsApp delivery providers (for OTP and notifications), cloud hosting providers, and payment processors — solely to provide those services on our behalf.
• When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Velchur, our users, or the public.

4. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion of your account and associated data as described below.

5. Your choices and rights

• You can update your profile information at any time within the app.
• You can disable location access from your device settings; some features may then require manual location entry.
• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at the email below.

6. Children's privacy

Velchur is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of sensitive fields and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of Velchur after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
